Song of the Week: “Radio” by Margo Price (feat. Sharon Van Etten)

Country music star Margo Price burst onto the scene with Midwest Farmer’s Daughter, but her latest album, Strays, brings us more feel-good hits, including our song of the week, “Radio,” featuring Sharon Van Etten. This catchy and uplifting song is the perfect vibe for any dance party. Crank it up and tune out the rest of the world. Price is on tour and you can catch her cranking out her best songs across the country.

Price told U Discover Music that the melody and lyrics came to her one day while she got lost in the words. Of Van Etten’s involvement, she said, “I asked her to help me write it and she sent me back the most lovely rough of her singing it. She changed some lines and I knew I wanted get her voice on it. Sharon adds this wonderful chrome color to everything she does. She put some incredible vocals on there and after she got done with it, it really shined.”

With lyrics like these, it’s easy to see why Price has developed a fan base in and beyond the world of country.

People try and push me around
Run my name straight in the ground
I can’t hear them, I tuned them out
And I turned them way down low
The only thing I have on is the radio
Only thing I have on is the radio
Don’t get confused about how I feel
Don’t let ’em fool you about what is real
I think the whole world’s going crazy
And it makes us look insane
But all this thinking makes my head hurt
And all this running makes my feet hurt
I work my back right off my shirt
Kick off my shoes and run away
