Song of the Week: “Naked” by FINNEAS

FINNEAS is back with his first new song of 2022, the punchy yet confessional  “Naked,” a topic we’ve explored recently with our guide to exploring public nudity and visit to a naked sauna.

The track kicks off with a funky pop groove, but takes a shift halfway through the track  which climaxes with a series of rock guitars leaning towards the heavier side. One great aspect of the song crafting characteristic of FINNEAS is his ability to tell a story in the shortest amount of lines possible while still revealing incredible amounts of detail. “Naked” is certainly no exception. He challenges his ex by saying, “If you’re gonna send it, they might save it,” referring to some footage that might be revealing, “If I don’t feel it, I don’t fake it,” Finneas sings on the hook. “If I’m being real it was overrated/If I know the deal then I won’t take it/I can’t believe you’ve seen me naked.” Direct and straight to the point in every line, telling his story wall dancing through it.

If you aren’t already familiar with Finneas O’Connell, he is actually Billie Eilish’s older brother, not to mention the producing mastermind behind the sound of hit songs from Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, and Halsey. O’Connell has eight Grammy Awards (and counting), racking in Producer of the Year, Album of the Year, and Best Engineered Album for his work on Eilish’s multi-platinum album When We Fall Asleep Where Do We Go.
