Podcast Spotlight: Radical Intimacy with Zoë Kors on The “Ick” Factor on Sex and the City

Sex and intimacy coach, thought leader and relationship writer Zoë Kors is the author of the forthcoming book Radical Intimacy: Cultivate the Deeply Connected Relationships You Desire and Deserve (Hachette Go, April 12), which shares her methodology for nurturing and sustaining our intimate relationships. Zoë is expanding on the ideas in the book with her new podcast Radical Intimacy. Each week we will share details about a new episode.

On the first episode of Radical Intimacy, Zoë interviews writer and activist Heather Kristin about her work as a stand-in on the original Sex and the City, which she’s written about in essays for The Independent and Glamour published in early 2021. The “ick” factor in the title refers to the fact that although the job sounds glamorous, in addition to long hours, Kristin was subjected to unwanted sexual advances and workplace harassment. Kristin says on the episode, “Women have been silenced for way too long and it’s time for us to stand up and say, ‘This is enough.'”

Some of the topics covered in this episode of the Radical Intimacy podcast include Kristin’s reception as a stand-in by Sex and the City cast members  why Kristin decided to come forward about her Sex and the City experiences, the systemic nature of harassment, the Me Too movement, insights she’s gained from Anita Hill, her reaction to the recent allegations against Chris Noth and the public statement by Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon after the Noth allegations emerged, and her plans to turn her experiences into a memoir entitled The Stand-In: How I Stood in For the Stars and Never Myself and Others Until One Day.
