Erotic Artist Interview: David Morgans

Our latest erotic art interview is with artist David Morgans of Cardiff, Wales, who creates digital erotic art along with his wife Cath, who he’s been with for the last five years. Based on photos of Cath or them as a couple, Morgans then transforms them using digital tools into erotic art which they sell on various websites including Redbubble, Society6 and Zazzle. At the moment it’s a side project for Morgans, who hopes as their artwork gains popularity, it can become his primary occupation. You can learn more about their erotic artwork and see more examples on their YouTube channel.

How long have you been creating art, and why did you decide to focus on erotic art?

Two years ago in COVID lockdown 2020, I made my first erotic picture on my phone with an app and a sexy photo from Cath. Just by using filters and changing colours I made something I loved. I instantly knew I found my creative path, so I bought my first ever Camera and got a digital editing program on my computer, and with hundreds of tutorial YouTube videos and photos taken I started making pictures.

Why was it such an instant interest for you? What do you like best about the process?

A year before I made my first picture on the phone app, I had to deal with and still am dealing with childhood trauma stuff. Taking positives from this, it’s helped me understand myself a lot more. Like what I’m good at, my skills/talents, what I want, what I like, who I am and why. It was like an awakening moment in my life.  I’ve always been a creative person, but manually with my hands (making, fixing and working), thinking outside of the box to get things done. I’m also a little bit nerdy when it comes to instruction manuals and settings. I like to know what things are and what they do.

So when I made picture on the app it was like a Eureka moment, I instantly knew I wanted to create digital pictures for myself instead of hard manual work as an employee for rest of my life. So I’m creating my pictures for passion and to chase my dream of changing my life and how I live it.

Can you share with our readers what your artistic process is for creating your art? How long does each piece generally take you?
Working on the pieces can take hours due to the whole process, the fun bit at the beginning with the camera and lights, taking the photos, then creating the art and then the relentless uploading to the selling sites. Cath takes care of all the media.
The process with taking photos can change. The camera is never far away when we’re in the bedroom, so I’m taking photos when I see an opportunity for one (clothes, undressing and sex) if Cath’s happy to have some taken. Also we plan photo shoots with lights and backgrounds, sexy lingerie or naked and in positions. If I’m honest, a lot of the photos are of Cath because I don’t feel that comfortable in front of the camera, where Cath shines. We haven’t done a photo shoot outside, but are looking forward to it.

The hardest pictures to take are the couple ones. Because there’s only the two of us, I have to set the timer and run to a position that we have previously chosen and hope we capture the shot. There’s always laughing and playing which often leads to sex and more naughtier photos.

Then the next step is to upload the photos on the computer to find the picture I want to create.  I really enjoy the editing program; there’s so many different ways to create. All the options, settings and editing tools (nerdy), cutting and adding backgrounds, deciding on style of picture and picking colours. I love it all.

Which pieces or types of pieces have been most popular and why do you think that is?
The most popular picture people seem to like are of Cath’s bum, but this could be due to it being in the majority of pictures taken . I do have a favourite and funny enough it’s a bum one. It’s loud and colourful; you see the full shape of Cath’s hips, thigh and big bum. It was a hard choice as I really like them all.
Has your style of erotic art changed since you started?

My art has somewhat stayed the same since I started. I just know what I like when I see it, so I  learnt how to create a style I like.  Clean, colourful and naughty shapes.

What is it like for the two of you to collaborate on your erotic art? How has that impacted your relationship and sex life?
Me and Cath have always had an amazing sex life. There was chemistry and naughtiness between us from day one. We talk fantasies, we’re honest about our wants and likes, and we’re completely comfortable with each other. This is why I believe that we were so comfortable doing the photo shoots. Making art has brought us even closer together and adds to the bedroom fun.
What are your plans for the future of your art?
The plans for the future is to have fun as a couple with the camera and create our art. Hopefully to grow slowly expand on social media and then one day open our own website focusing on adult stuff such as pictures, toys and clothing. Maybe one day giving up my day job.
