Breakups can hit deep. As humans we tend to take certain actions in order to experience positive emotions and minimize the probability of feeling negative emotions. But ignoring the negative emotions can create a “bottling up” of the feelings, which in turn will take longer to get over. So we ask, why not go into the pain? Isn’t it better to feel it so you can heal with a sad song playlist?
Set yourself a time to have your moment to allow the heartache to surface. Get it out! Unpacking our emotions and allowing them to exist gives us opportunities to learn and grow. It can also help us avoid them spilling over at the wrong time. Sure, they can feel uncomfortable and sometimes scary, but over time and with practice, this process allows us to connect on a deeper, more human level with those around us.
