Looking for the perfect poppy and proud anthem for Pride Month? Look no further than “Because of You (The Pride Edition)” by Belgian singer Gustaph! The out musical artist performed the song at 2023’s Eurovision Song Contest after being crowned the winner of Eurosong 2023, Belgium’s national final for Eurovision. Gustaph is now ready to make this a Pride Month to remember!
“Because of You” was written by fellow Jaouad Alloul. Gustaph, who is out and proud about being gay and happily married to his husband, told Attitude:
The song was really talking about the perspective of someone who realises where they are in life, and they’re happy to have people around them who can help them out.
A lot of queer people like myself, find like-minded individuals who feel the same way about certain things and have dealt with the same things as you have dealt with.
Through those similarities, you bond, you find solace, and you lift each other up. It’s something we have been doing as queer people for generations. I think that’s something that just comes natural to our group of people.
.Gustaph also revealed that fans have told him they’ve come out to their parents because of the song.
