Spark Erotic has been a wonderful dream allowing us to share our vision of erotica with the world from our home base in Colorado. It has truly been a collaborative art project with our friends who bring authentic sexuality to our films. None are professional actors; it is their relationships and passion that make the magic.
From the beginning, Spark Erotic planned to bridge high quality cinematography with explicit sexuality. Our films are shot with great attention to detail and we storyboard and shot-list all of the dramatic elements in our films. We use time-honored techniques and are always expanding our view with new ways of seeing.
When it comes to the sexuality we then shift our perspective to a documentary style doing our best to capture the experience instead of directing it. Our performers have discussed the basics of what they will be experiencing together but as filmmakers we try to fade away as much as possible so they can focus on each other.
This combination of highly disciplined filmmaking and providing space for authentic sexual expression is the combination that has made our films what they are. It is wonderfully satisfying to create erotic art in this way. We have heard form many people that they have never seen anything quite like them. To date, we have produced 24 films and many shorter, supplementary works as well.
We have been pleased to be part of CineKink since 2017 when our films first screened there. Visiting NYC to be part of everything at the festival has become a habit we don’t want to break! It’s wonderful to meet other filmmakers and fans of our work in person. We especially enjoy the good-natured competition of the Bring It! section and have won that audience choice award for the last four years running with the films Merger, The Pickup, PSA and Restless.
Our submission this year is a film titled Air which is a story of Chris and Melina, two trapeze artists who share a remarkable aerial performance together that extends into their beautiful sexuality. We first met them at a Lifestyle club in Denver and conversation turned to their aerial work and the films we make. After hearing and seeing our work they were excited to join the adventure and we scripted and planned a film utilizing their amazing talents. The end result is a film we are very proud of and love.
