Sex and intimacy coach, thought leader and relationship writer Zoë Kors is the author of the forthcoming book Radical Intimacy: Cultivate the Deeply Connected Relationships You Desire and Deserve (Hachette Go, April 12), which shares her methodology for nurturing and sustaining our intimate relationships. Zoë is expanding on the ideas in the book with her new podcast Radical Intimacy. Each week we will share details about a new episode. See prior Radical Intimacy podcast posts here, here and here.
On the podcast’s sixth episode, Zoë interviews divorce coach Kate Anthony about breaking the trauma bond. In the episode, they discuss what trauma bonding means and how it can manifest in relationships, how to tell the difference between narcissists and abusers and tips for survivors of abuse, among other topics. Anthony says, “Codependency is not a bad word. It’s actually a very freeing diagnosis that gives us a path towards healing. That is our work to do.” Anthony, who hosts The Divorce Survival Guide Podcast and runs the private Facebook group Should I Stay or Should I Go?, also shares advice about finding the right therapist or coach and developing a support network.
