Page Burkum and Jack Torrey, the brothers that make up The Cactus Blossoms, are the new modern classics. The Cactus Blossoms can easily remind us of the Everly Brothers and give us hints of Chris Isaac, while delivering their own mark of gorgeous harmonies and ageless sounds. Burkum and Torrey prove they can sing, play and write beautiful songs, too. Not only have they caught the attention of David Lynch, who invited them to play the fictional bar, The Roadhouse, in the last season of Twin Peaks, but also the likes of Dan Auerbach who reached out to the band and ended up co-writing some songs that appear on Easy Way, the duo’s latest album.
On the band’s third album we’re given this track “You’re Dreaming”, where they take us on a poetic stroll of images and emotions that are sometimes evoked by love, or feelings like love.
It’s raining inside me
I’m not sleeping
I’m not walking
And you can’t hear my talking when your eyes are closed
I’ll be alright
It just takes some time
I can’t believe that you are mine, all mine
This pain thing has a hold on me
Feels like I’m sinking
Like I’ve been drinking
And I can’t help but thinking of him holding you
